Deschutes River white water park

Summertime in Shevlin Park

Sunny today with a high of 73. Another gorgeous day in Bend.

We love our rivers in Central Oregon – for recreation, solitude, and beauty. In just a few months, the section of the Deschutes River that runs north of the Old Mill District will be transformed into a white water park. The park will have three different channels. One for white water kayakers, one “gentle channel” for river floaters, and one for the natural habitat. To celebrate this upcoming opening, a party is planned for tonight…

The River Stoke Party is tonight at 6pm at the Volcanic Theater Pub off of 14th St/Century Drive. The event centers around the opening of Bend’s first white water park in September. The event has film clips from other parks, two live bands, food carts, and a raffle for a World on Water surfboard. The event runs until 11:00pm and admission is $10.

A prescribed burn is scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday 5/28) in the Phil’s Trail mountain bike area. The trails around Marvin’s Garden will be closed today and tomorrow in preparation for the burn.

Day 6 of Beer Week…events today are at Bridge 99 Brewery, Platypus Pub, Wild Ride Brew Company, Broken Top Bottle Shop, Brother Jon’s Alehouse, Silver Moon Brewing, and RiverBend Brewing Company. Go to

It’s Open Mic Night at The Lot…all are welcome. 6:00pm, no cover.
