Springtime in Bend, Oregon

Summertime in Shevlin Park

Spring has sprung in Bend, Oregon!

 trail running

A little late this year, but hopefully it is here to stay. This unusual weather pattern we have been having isn’t all that bad if you are a die-hard skier or snowboarder…Mt. Bachelor still has a ton of snow and is staying open until May 28. Thankfully, the snow is staying up in the higher elevations and not interrupting the now dry mountain bike trails or golf courses.

In addition, the US Bank Pole Pedal Paddle will have plenty of snow for the downhill and nordic courses on race day, May 20th. Just two years ago there wasn’t enough snow to open the nordic course and race officials had to replace that leg with a short trail run. Thankfully, eliminating the nordic course enabled me to finally “mug” that year as that has always been the most difficult leg for me, and with fewer sign-ups, I was able to place second in my age category! (There were 2 of us).

This is the time of year in Bend when you can ski in the morning; bike, hike, or golf in the afternoon; and dine outside at one of Bend’s finest restaurants downtown or in the Old Mill District. The summer tourism season is still a month away which means uncrowded ski slopes and trails and finding a table at a downtown restaurant with ease.

Get outside and enjoy Bend in the spring!
