mountain bike recumb

 Backcountry Recumbent Cycles

We are near the heart of downtown Bend, but just enough off the main drag to afford test riding a new recumbent trike or bike on quiet neighborhood streets.

Our focus is toward serving the needs of the touring recumbent cyclist, whether your idea of touring is a quiet afternoon ride on a bike path or a summer spent riding across the continent. BRC has the experience and equipment to make your human-powered, self-propelled dreams come true.

Cycling is a big part of Oregon culture. Companies such as Bike Friday, Co-Motion, Burley, Terracycle and others all have chosen to make their home here because the great roads for riding and the sheer numbers of riders make it a natural fit. Given the plethora of bike shops in the area, none of which carry recumbents, we felt the need to fill that niche for the recumbent cyclist.

biking sunnyside

Sunnyside Sports

Sunnyside Sports is rooted in the core of this beautiful mountain town of Bend, Oregon.  An early hub for Bend’s cycling and cross-country skiing communities, Sunnyside has shaped the last 40 years of Bend’s outdoor culture. Sunnyside today remains a center for exceptional knowledge and service, embracing the heart of the Central Oregon outdoors–The joyful spirit of rolling, sliding, or maching forward.

The Hub Cyclery

You can do a lot of things when you visit Bend and Central Oregon. Bike the amazing singletrack, scale the sheer rock walls at Smith Rock State Park, float the Deschutes River or play a round of golf at one of our 30 courses.

Or, you could just rent a cruiser bike and hit up a bunch of breweries.

The Hub Cyclery has everything you need to get started on your beer adventure: a Felt Cafe’ cruiser and maps of the now famous Bend Ale Trail. We also have beer.

So I’d start there – with a cold brew at The Hub from Worthy or Oblivion Brewing or whatever else TJ and Matt happen to have on tap at the shop that day. Yes, that’s right….On. Tap. At. The. Shop.

Remember – you’re in Bend. This is how we roll.

Don’t know where to Bike while you’re here?  Check out these routes:

  • Cascade Lakes Highway (the road up to Mt. Bachelor)
    •  Take Colorado Avenue west – turns into Cascade Lakes Hwy.
    • 100+ miles (loop ride…)
  • Johnson Road to Tumalo State Park (—- mile loop)
  • Head west on Newport Ave, which turns into Shevlin Park Road. Continue on and the road turns into Johnson Road.

Bend Cyclery

We carry all types of mountain bikes, from carbon cross-country race bikes to full blown downhill bikes. We have a mountain bike for anyone’s off road needs and the gear to get you out there. We have a wide range of Norco and Kona mountain bikes; parts from Deity, Chromag, and Race Face; clothing from Fox and Sombrio; protection to cover you from head-to-toe for when the going gets tough; and free beer (or soda) to keep you happy while you shop! On top of all this, we offer a full service repair center that will keep your bike rolling like new, and you can even watch us while we work (Benihana style).

Thanks to our loyal customers, Bend Cyclery has come a long way since 1996, but we are still owned and operated by Eric and a few other dedicated staff members. When you come in we guarantee you will be greeted with a smile and you will most likely be offered a free beer (or soda) from Eric himself. We pride ourselves on being a shop that offers a personable ‘small shop’ feel with ‘big shop’ amenities.

The most important thing, is that we all love bikes. We love to ride bikes, work on bikes, and talk about bikes. So no matter what kind of two-wheeled, man-powered device you ride, if you need it fixed, upgraded, or just want to show it off, we’re here for you.

We love what we do and do what we love!
