What to do #inBend at this time of year…

Bend is on the cusp of winter and spring right now.

The snow has melted in town and the river is flowing.

The trees are beginning to bud, and there was frost on the windshield this morning. We are now faced with the decision of skiing or mountain biking…or both. #MtBachelor got dumped on a few days ago and should be open through mid-May, so don’t put your board(s) away yet!

Head down to the river at Farewell Bend Park for a picnic, it’s so peaceful along the river. Find a boulder to sit on!

If you mountain bike, go in the morning when the trails are still frozen. It’s not good to leave them with ruts in the mud. Remember, there’s great mountain biking at Maston towards Redmond and Horse Ridge just east of town. Head HERE for trail updates.

Spring Break is here and the town is filled with visitors.  Bars are hopping, restaurants are filled, and the new ice skating rink is very busy, as is Mt. Bachelor.

Elk Lake Resort just past Mt. Bachelor will be open all week (starting 3/19) at 11:00am for dining. You can’t drive there yet, but you can cross-country ski, rent a snowmobile, or ride the Elk Lake Snowcat in to the resort. It’s beautiful out there at this time of year!

Golfing? Sure, the courses are pretty dry now and ready for play! Go HERE to find a golf course. Rates are pretty good now, too. Make your Spring Break tee-times now because if the weather is good, courses will be busy.
